Frequently Asked Questions

What happens once I submit a request form?

When you submit an appointment request, it is sent directly to the clinician you selected. If you didn’t choose a provider, we review the information you shared—such as your concerns, goals, and preferences—and match you with a clinician whose expertise best aligns with your needs.

Your assigned clinician will personally review your form and reach out to you to learn more, answer questions, and schedule your first appointment. We aim to respond within 1–3 business days. Please note that holidays or clinician absences may occasionally extend response times.

What happens after the initial appointment is scheduled?

Once your first session is scheduled, you will receive an email or text invitation to create your secure client portal.

Through the portal, you’ll find any required paperwork, consent documents, and a few detailed questionnaires to complete before your appointment. This helps your clinician begin understanding your background so your first session can be as productive as possible.

You are welcome to contact your clinician through the portal at any time. Because it is a secure system, we recommend using the portal—rather than email—for any sensitive or confidential information.

What can I expect in the first session?

Your first session typically lasts about one hour. During this meeting, you and your clinician will discuss your current challenges, relevant background information, and what you hope to accomplish in therapy.

In many cases, the assessment phase continues for more than one session. Once your clinician has a fuller understanding of your needs, the two of you will work together to identify treatment goals and determine the best path forward.

What is therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process focused on understanding problems, building new skills, and creating meaningful change. Much like physical therapy, important work happens in session, but real progress often depends on applying what you learn outside of sessions.

People tend to get the most out of therapy when they are open, engaged, and willing to practice new strategies between appointments. Honest communication is essential—your clinician can only help with what they are aware of, and transparency allows for the most effective support.
